Topic:
The Gianni Bonadonna Fellowships will be awarded to highly qualified medical doctors who wish to broaden or acquire research experience in a cancer-focused laboratory outside of Italy.
Aim of this program is to support the training and development of a new cadre of physician scientists, given their essential role in translating the results of basic science endeavors in the clinical setting. The program is a great opportunity for oncologists and hematologists in the early stages of their career to conduct high quality biomedical research in top institutions, allowing them to establish fruitful and long-lasting collaborations with cancer researchers worldwide.

Fellowship gross amount and health insurance max 70.000 € /year (The applicant can request a sum that shall not exceed the standard salary of a fellow at the same career level based on the Hosting Institution’s payscale)

Who can participate:
To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of submission deadline:
• be enrolled in the last two years of residency in one of the Italian Specialty Schools in Oncology or
Hematology;
• have received the Italian Board certification (“diploma di specializzazione”) in Oncology or Hematology not earlier than June ,1 2019. Exceptions to this limit are allowed only in case of research interruptions (see the “Research Interruptions and Justifications” section in the Guide to Proposal Preparation).
The institution of origin must be located in Italy: applicants who have been working abroad for more than 6 months before the deadline of this Call cannot apply

Notes:
For the entire duration of the fellowships, fellows must operate in the Hosting Institution, i.e. a research organization (such as university, hospital or other research center), irrespective of its legal status (organized under public or private law), located in a country different from Italy.
Applicants are allowed to submit one application for “Fellowships for Italy”, one for “Fellowships for Abroad” and one for “Gianni Bonadonna Fellowship” in the same year if they meet the eligibility criteria of each Call.
Fellowships are not compatible with any other continuous employment income.
During the fellowship appointment the fellow must work full time at the research project. Clinical activities are allowed, starting from the second year of the fellowship, and only for a maximum of 1 day/week.
