Topic:
This call is intended to support research projects aimed at identifying and understanding the molecular basis of a human pathology identified a priori. The proponents will take care to specify the target pathology and the molecular mechanism that they intend to study within the project. All human pathologies are admissible, with the exception of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and oncological diseases.
Particular attention will be paid to innovative aspects, methodological approaches and any applicative effects of the knowledge produced.

Who can participate:
The scientific manager of the lead unit must have the following requirements:
i) from 2 to 7 years of experience gained after obtaining the research doctorate by the expiry date of the first phase;
ii) a maximum age of 40 years, completed by the expiry date of the first phase;
iii) at least one scientific article as first or last author in a peer-reviewed journal;
iv) an h-index5 ≥ 6 or at least one publication as first / last author in a journal with an Impact Factor6 ≥ 10 or at least two publications as first / last author in journals with an Impact Factor ≥ 5.

Notes:
Projects which, in addition to not respecting the scientific priorities identified by the call for applications, present the
following features:
• purely descriptive research;
• studies purely aimed at the development of new methods and / or technologies;
• exclusively pharmacological and / or clinical projects;
• funding requests for the creation of new research centers and / or for setting up laboratories and / or animal shelters.
Furthermore, the Foundation will not consider the re-proposal of a project already presented twice in previous editions of this call.
