Fondazione AIRC per la Ricerca sul Cancro (AIRC) will award Fellowships in cancer research to highly qualified young graduates and/or post-doctoral fellows or equivalent who wish to broaden or acquire experience in oncological research in a cancer-focused laboratory in Italy.
Applications must include a detailed research plan, agreed with the head of the hosting lab, with a clear focus on cancer. The proposed research plan should be highly innovative, feasible, internationally competitive and with the potential to advance the field; in addition, it should be achievable in the time frame of the fellowship. The project should be suited to the applicant’s stage of career and be consistent with the work of one person.

Who can participate:
Applicants can be of any nationality and they do not need to be resident of Italy at the time of the deadline for submission. However, at the time of the deadline for submission, and regardless of the type of fellowship requested, the following eligibility criteria must be met:
• Applicants must have a degree in Medicine, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology, Medical Statistics, Medical Biotechnologies or other scientific disciplines, provided that the focus of the proposed research plan in the application is cancer. In particular:
a) The degree must be an Italian “laurea magistralis”, i.e. 5-6 years of undergraduate degree, or an Italian “laurea specialistica”, or an equivalent non Italian degree that would allow access to PhD programs; candidates who only have a “laurea breve” are not eligible.
b) The degree must have been attained after December 31, 2014; Exceptions are allowed only in case of research interruptions (see the “Research Interruptions and Justifications” section in the Guide to Proposal Preparation).
