Started in Italian NHS hospitals as a consultant in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. Developed further into technical officer in emergency medical systems for the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization. Evolved the role into lecturer in disaster medicine and disaster education at university level, designing courses in emergency response and disaster relief. Co-founder of Research Centre in Emergency and Disaster Medicine at the University of Piemonte Orientale.
In the current role of Researcher at Università del Piemonte Orientale, he is leading the Simulation Centre in Health Science and doing research in the field of simulation-based learning and teaching. Lectured in many national and international scientific congresses and he is author of more than 45 research articles published in peer-review journals. In March 2017 obtained the National Academic Qualification as Associate Professor in the sector 06/L1 (Anesthesiology). He is the current Secretary of Society of Simulation in Europe (SESAM)
